Citing data from the New York State and Local Retirement System based on regular, overtime pay and unused vacation time, Empire Center’s 2018 “What They Make” report determined which departments are paying their cops the most.

Pension contributions, health insurance, and other benefits were not factored into the data. The study includes the average pay of officers, the number of employees and where the departments land in the region.
